If I were to reveal some of my own pathology it would be that I am a chronic student. I have always loved learning about anything and everything. Homeopathy is the perfect avenue to answer that longing. Indeed, homeopathy is the study of everything, as anything in the world could be made into a homeopathic remedy, each substance with its own singular healing essence and therapeutic effectiveness, when applied according to homeopathic principles.

As for many people, stepping out into the world was a challenge. I began as a painter, because making art seemed to balance the need for internal explorations with a requirement to sell my work. Once success began to dawn, I had misgivings. At the same time, I was engaged in a series of paintings about heaven energies coming to meet earthly energies within the human body, images of spirit and matter meeting in the human frame. Those are some of my favorite paintings. Seeing an acupuncturist at that time, and describing the paintings to her, she said that sounds like Chinese medicine! What a coincidence. I had never explored that terrain but loved stepping into herb shops whenever I was in Chinatown, enjoying the aromas and the many wooden drawers of mysterious herbs. My acupuncturist, Mitza Thompson, encouraged me to study and four years later I was finishing up my masters degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine @ Emperors College in Los Angeles.

While sitting through a lecture in my last semester there, the doctor took a detour and began describing the philosophy of homeopathic medicine. Something inside of me woke up. The room filled with a celestial light and I thought I was hearing music! So in the beginning it was truly a remarkable experience being introduced to homeopathy.

I enrolled in the International Foundation for Homeopathy Professional course in 1989. This was a fantastic beginning in learning the basics and the power of homeopathic treatment. My fondness for the teachers there and appreciation for their generosity, I will never forget. Stephen King, Sheryl Kipnis, Jennifer Jacobs, and Dean Crothers, thank you!

I also obtained my acupuncture license that year, no easy task in California. Turns out, it was my ticket to attending the Hahnemann College of Homeopathy, then in Berkeley. The college only accepted licensed medical professionals. This was a remarkable lesson in what it means to follow your bliss— you never know where it might take you! Without the medical license, I would have missed the brilliant opportunity to attend Hahnemann College.

The doctors at Hahnemann College are, to this day, pioneers in homeopathic medicine. Along with others, they helped initiate a rebirth of homeopathy in North America beginning with the opening of the college. If you are a professional homeopath, you know Drs. Roger Morrison, Nancy Herrick, Bill Gray, and Jonathon Shore. Each has worked tirelessly to advance the profession, as well as our understanding of homeopathic remedies, and how to use them. I am profoundly lucky to have studied under them, and to have caught the wave of homeopathy’s resurgence through them.

I opened my first practice in a small town in northern California, a lovely place to begin, to meet families, friends, and country folks who really taught me how to practice this tried and true healing art. I had helping hands from Deborah Karish, DC, and Nedda Rovelli, DC, who shared their clinic with me. In that warm and open environment, I learned what can only be transmitted through deep wisdom and experience: what it means to help people get better.

In 2002 I met my husband and together we moved to Canada! Since then I have been practicing in Edmonton, Alberta— and around the world through the internet. My colleagues describe me as a hardworking homeopath or someone for whom homeopathy is a calling. Of course I continue learning and studying: a new case, or an online seminar with Drs. Rajan Sankaran, Jeremy Sherr, Michal Yakir, and others. I enjoy presentations from new homeopaths also, our modern day explorers and adventurers into new levels of understanding.

In January 2024 I created the Prescribers Forum for homeopaths and lay practitioners to meet on Zoom and discuss cases, questions, and the deep-acting healing powers of homeopathy. Contact me if you are interested in joining!

I am grateful for what calls. I am happy doing the work. I look forward to meeting you, sharing this extraordinary healing art, and working together so to reach the highest ideal of cure as Samuel Christian Hahnemann first proposed it. He goes on to affirm in The Organon of the Healing Art, published in 1810:

In the healthy condition of man, the spiritual vital force (autocracy), the dynamis that animates the material body (organism), rules with unbounded sway, and retains all the parts of the organism in admirable, harmonious, vital operation, as regards both sensations and functions, so that our indwelling, reason-gifted mind can freely employ this living, healthy instrument for the higher purpose of our existence.
